West Marin is considered by many to be a refuge, a place of belonging, due in large part to the region’s natural beauty and to its strong sense of community and solidarity.

As the dynamics of the region evolve with the times, the people of West Marin remain united by a desire to enhance its unique spirit and increase community cohesion.

Our Community Enrichment initiative supports efforts that foster a vibrant and inclusive community, empower residents to take action on local challenges, and expand high-quality enrichment opportunities for students.

Purpose

Fostering a Vibrant West Marin

  • Support cultural and community events in West Marin that foster connections and inclusivity
  • Empower community members to collaboratively address local challenges
  • Enable young people and the wider community to deepen their understanding of philanthropy, its impact, and the importance of giving back.
Grantmaking

Community Enrichment Grants

These grants support community events and one-time activities that enhance the lives of the people who live, work, and visit in West Marin. Grants are awarded twice a year in the $2,000-$4,000 range.

Collaboration for Impact

Giving Through Youth Grants

The Giving Through Youth program encourages community service and philanthropy among young students by engaging them in decision-making on the distribution of grant dollars. We collaborate with schools, teachers and students in West Marin to research and award small grants (usually $4000 per school) to the community causes of their choice. Giving Through Youth activities take place during March-May each year. If your class is interested in participating contact us for more information. Learn more here.

I think that being able to offer a full-time position will help us recruit an amazing new West Marin Playgroup Coordinator. I am so grateful to Marin First Five and West Marin Fund for your support and partnership.

Balandra FregosoParent Services Project

It has been amazing for my son and I to feel like we are part of a bilingual learning community. I appreciate the kits and the Spanish language books and activities. The kits have allowed me to focus on connecting with him through following instruction and learning.
