True and lasting economic vitality happens when we make the promise of economic opportunity available to all members of our community.

Economic vitality requires us to break down the obstacles that hold our communities back so that every person has the same opportunity at economic and social well-being as the next person.

West Marin Fund’s Economic Opportunities initiative works with community partners to connect students and youth to education and employment opportunities, provide entrepreneurs with the tools and capital they need to launch new ventures, enhance local agricultural and food systems, and respond to the needs of displaced workers. Through better coordination of systems, we are working to ensure the economic prosperity and well-being for all who live and work in West Marin.

Purpose

Fostering a Thriving Local Economy

  • Develop a coordinated career pipeline for West Marin youth, with opportunities for career exploration, internships, and post-secondary education.
  • Provide accessible training and seed funding to support local entrepreneurs in launching and sustaining micro and small businesses.
  • Grow the ability of small farmers to access new markets, partnerships, and resources in order to strengthen local agricultural and food systems.
  • Ensure that displaced agricultural workers are successfully integrated into local economic opportunities with coordinated support.
  • Foster a more coordinated ecosystem of organizations and agencies working together to advance economic opportunity in West Marin.

Collaboration for Impact

Workforce and Small Business Development

West Marin Fund is collaborating with county and district partners to develop several economic development programs that are tailored to our region’s unique needs. With support from Dominican University, the Small Business Development Center of Marin, and Marin County, we are developing a series of small grants to help launch and sustain new enterprises. And in partnership with the Workforce Alliance of the North Bay, we’re reaching out to local employers to encourage hiring locally and assisting job seekers with finding employment, accessing training, and receiving individualized support.
