In times of crisis, community foundations such as West Marin Fund serve as vital anchors, providing immediate assistance while maintaining a focus on longer term recovery and resilience.

With our deep local knowledge and established networks, we can quickly mobilize resources, coordinate emergency response efforts, and direct funds to where they’re needed most.

Our Rapid Response initiative strengthens emergency preparedness through grants to community response teams and by providing rapid response funding for immediate needs and long-term recovery during unexpected disasters. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve also understood the need invest in infrastructure, training, and planning that strengthen community resilience before crises occur. By building relationships among local stakeholders and maintaining dedicated emergency funds, we create the foundation for our communities to withstand, respond to, and ultimately emerge stronger from future crises.

Collaboration for Impact

Community Resiliency Teams

Community resiliency teams, or CRTs, were developed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic to support community-level coordination in response to the health threat. Currently there are five Marin County CRTs corresponding to five geographic regions or “zones” — Central Marin, Novato, San Rafael, Southern Marin and West Marin.

Each CRT is comprised of representatives from non-profit organizations, schools, community health clinics, the business community, faith-based organizations, and local government. These groups collaborate to build the capacity of their communities to prepare and respond to public health threats and emergencies.

The West Marin CRT was created through a partnership between West Marin Community Services and San Geronimo Valley Community Center. West Marin Fund, together with Marin County, provides funding support to strengthen and grow West Marin CRT’s emergency response and preparedness capacity.

On behalf of the County of Marin, I would like to thank the West Marin Fund for your innovative approach to supporting our West Marin Communities. The Fund is nimble—your team was quick out of the gate when Covid hit, doubling up communications efforts, helping to connect the community, non-profits, and businesses with our county outreach efforts. Your leadership provided needed funds and support enabling our local non-profits to step up and provide more safety net services during these difficult times.
