With its communities spread across significant distances and limited access to public transportation, West Marin's expansive rural landscape presents unique mobility challenges for residents and workers.

Our Community Transportation initiative aims to improve mobility for rural West Marin residents — particularly seniors, youth, low-income families, ranch workers, people with disabilities, and those most impacted by limited public transit options.

In collaboration with local nonprofits, school districts, Marin Transit, and neighboring communities, the program supports efforts to pilot and implement practical transportation solutions that are affordable, environmentally friendly, and flexible, helping ensure that residents, workers, and visitors can access essential services and opportunities.

Purpose

Creating Transportation Solutions

  • Bring public, private, nonprofit and community stakeholders together to explore and identify solutions that expand the availability of transportation options for community members.
  • Prioritize transportation options that facilitate a shift to “green” modes of transportation to reduce air pollution and the need for bigger capital investments such as roadway expansion and increases in parking inventory.
